Oh no. I saw her throwing banter back and forth with Dylan on Saturday via Twitter. Things change so fast. RIP to Emma. She was truly one of the smartest people I have ever gotten a chance to talk to. An actual intellectual. Also, she was so, so resilient. Fought her whole life to stay alive. Almost died like 4 times that I can distinctly remember. Damn, this sucks. RIP to someone I truly considered a friend.

Well, our baby girl decided to make an early appearance and was born on February 21st at 9:42pm, weighing in at 6lbs, 10oz. Its been a crazy week to say the least. Lots of sleepless nights already haha.

I would do the opposite. Just tell them to do whatever the fuck they want because that seems to be their mentality anyway.

Also, a heads up, I've sent flowers to her family on behalf of Lf.ca and myself. I think they deserve to know how big a part of this crew Emma was during this forum's heyday.

They're gonna start interviewing parents before the draft to see if it's worth it.

Leafs win. The 23 others play for 2nd place.

The Blue Jays have some real talented young pieces that are already on the team, plus a Top 7-8 Farm system too. Maybe they'll get it right.

Don't think it's Dubas' fault that the literal best offensive team in the league couldn't score in this situation. This had to be on the players, doesn't it? I mean, make some massive changes, sure, but how can you predict that Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Hyman couldn't score on a zamboni driver? And I left out Nylander because people irrationally hate him.

The only reason I’m still watching is to see them get roasted when they lose.

I actively want the Leafs to lose this game.

Had a poster of him on my wall when I was just starting to play the game. He did everything you wanted your shortstop to do. Made every play defensively, even the ones that nobody else could make. Very fond memories of my dad yelling at me as I tried to copy that submarine toss to first base. And at the plate, it always looked like the bat weighed more than him, but he'd just slap it out there and smack a single the other way. A special player, underappreciated by the masses because he played so much in Canada.

Despite you being 100 percent correct, Freddie can generally get a pass for being probably the best goalie in the league so far this year.

If that's the stance they're taking I'm thinking it might be time to move on. Give him your best final offer, an October 1st deadline, and start exploring trade options.

An Ottawa woman who was left with second- and third-degree burns when she was "engulfed in flames" at a dinner party hosted by Cody Ceci is now suing the former Ottawa Senators' player and others for more than $8 million in damages. Hana Engel, 25, had burns to 35 per cent of her body after an incident on May 9, 2018 that involved an outdoor tabletop fireplace at Ceci's Stittsville home, according to the statement of claim for the lawsuit. The statement of claim, filed July 24, alleges that Engel was "immediately engulfed in flames" when Ceci's common-law partner Jamie Thompson, a co-defendant in the suit, accidently ignited her with flaming liquid ethanol burner fuel. The incident Thompson was trying to refill one of the burners on the outdoor fireplace around 9 p.m. while Engel and other guests were seated around the table, according to the statement of claim. The lawsuit claims that Thompson squirted the ethanol onto the burner without checking to determine if it had cooled or completely extinguished, causing flames and ethanol to jet out of the bottle, which was still in her hands. "The defendant Thompson immediately threw the burning bottle in Hana's direction," the statement of claim said. "Hana's clothing caught fire and she was immediately engulfed in flames." None of the allegations in the statement of claim have been tested in court. The lawsuit also files claims against Clair de Lune Products, Inc., the manufacturer of the tabletop ethanol fireplace and its subsidiary Les Distributions Orca Lite Inc., which distributed and sold the ethanol biofuel marketed for use in its tabletop fireplaces. According to the lawsuit, Clair de Lune stopped selling the tabletop ethanol fireplace following the incident. No statement of defence has been filed from any of the parties involved. Millions in damages, 6 plaintiffs Hana Engel is seeking more than $6 million in damages for the pain and suffering, loss of amenities, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of housekeeping and homemaking capacity, loss of income, loss of competitive advantage in the marketplace and loss of economic opportunities. The statement of claim describes Hana as a "talented and ambitious" yoga enthusiast and businesswomen, who owned and operated a yoga studio in Ottawa. The claim states she was in a coma for three weeks and had to undergo three surgeries after the incident. It also notes that her appearance has been changed permanently and she continues to seek ongoing rehabilitation and treatment. Engel's common-law partner, Jacob Cardwell, as well as her parents, Bruce and Bonnie Engel and her siblings, Matthew and Sabrina Engel, are also named as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. Cardwell is seeking $900,000 in damages for the loss of care guidance and companionship, the loss of income and for costs associated with the nursing, attendant care and other services provided to Engel. He is also seeking damages for nervous shock, intentional infliction of mental suffering and emotional distress. Engel's parents are seeking $700,000 in damages for loss of care, guidance and companionship and for costs associated with nursing, attendant care and other services given to Hana, while her siblings are seeking $200,000 on a similar claim. Alleged negligence, lawsuit claims The lawsuit claims alleges that the accident was caused "entirely by the individual or combined negligence" of the defendants. It further claims that Thompson didn't know how to properly operate the fireplace, disregarded warning labels, failed to take safety precautions, failed to warn guests of the danger, failed to read instructions, and allegedly squirted liquid ethanol onto an open flame. The lawsuit also accuses Ceci of negligence for allegedly also not knowing how to properly operate the fireplace, failing to read instructions, failing to understanding the safety precautions, failing to prevent Thompson from refilling the fireplace with ethanol while the flame was low and ignoring the warning labels. The lawsuit states that "he otherwise breached his duties as an occupier of premises." It also alleges negligence on the part of the manufacturer Clair de Lune and distributor Orca Lite in a list of claims over the make and design of the fireplace, and issues regarding the instructions and warning labels on the products.

Haven't heard a reputable source posting this...yet. In any case the Islanders have like $8M in cap space after signing Anders Lee. And they have a few RFAs still as well. I call bullshit for now.

Matthews is the 3rd highest salary in the NHL.
  44. 1 point
That works in his talks with Dubas But Auston Matthews doesn't play for the other 30 teams in the league. No one else is giving him $11.5M or more. And Dubas knows it.
  45. 1 point
Exactly. You improved the defence by not having to run out shit players like Ceci or Zaitsev in any season beyond next. Hopefully another trade pops up or some of the young guys can step in, but there is no opportunity for that if Zatisev's contract is bogging you down. Dubas is simply fixing mistakes made by his predecessor and, quite frankly, is doing a damn good job.

Ceci is an RFA with arbitration rights. The Leafs can walk away from any settlement above $4.3M. If that's the case the Leafs will have cleared an additional $6.6M in cap space.
  47. 1 point
Shedding salary. Leafs had interest, but would have been a much higher price to have NSH eat $3M in cap space.
