OHL Relocations

Recommended Posts

Two quick rumors:

1) Mississauga St. Michael Majors may be moving to Cornwall after seasons end to be closer to Ottawa for Melnyk.

2) Brampton Battalion's lease with the Powerade Centre is up this year and may relocate to Mississauga to play at the Hershey Centre.

So Brampton will relocate to Mississauga to STILL play in front of nobody?

They need to go up the 400 to Newmarket or something.

They could expand the Aud in Kitchener to 12,000 seats and it would still sell out every single night.

It takes me like an hour to get out of the parking lot after a game. People go absolutely ape shit over the Kitchener Rangers here.

People thought Balsille was crazy, but he may be on to something.

From what I've heard of Flint Michigan it's not that much better.

From what I've heard of Flint Michigan it's not that much better.

'Roger & Me' was a documentary from 1989 about the closing of the GM plant in Flint, Michigan, and how it killed the town. It was the film that put Michael Moore on the map. He's a native of Flint.

I remember watching it in school but don't really remember much about it.

What?

Talk about a terrible relocation choice. Flint is so bad it makes Buffalo look like a beautiful city!

Does anyone even have a job in Flint? It's a trailer park, crack addict shit hole! You run right past the red light in that devils hole and never look bad.

Third world countries have better cities than Flint.

Sarnia Sting sold to Derian Hatcher & David Legwand.

They say they are keeping the team in Sarnia, but both are from Detroit, so we'll see.

How many teams have the OHL put in Hamilton over the years?

Three, I think.

The Fincups, who came back as the Steelhawks and are now the Erie Otters.

And the Toronto Marlboros became the Dukes of Hamilton.

In completely related news, the AHL has approved the relocation of the Hamilton Bulldogs to St. John's and the St. John's Icecaps to Winnipeg.

The move to St. John's is only for 2 seasons I believe... Then they'll move permanently to Laval.

St. John's get tossed around like a cheap hooker.

I feel bad for their fans.

The NHL teams want their teams close by for easy cap management and quick call-ups. St. John's isn't close enough to any NHL team. In today's cap-tight world, it just doesn't work having your AHL team far away.

This is awesome news for me. I couldn't stand going to the Bulldogs games because... fuck the Habs. But now an OHL team right downtown! I might even look at some season tickets packages.
