17 Year Old Erie Otters Forward Forced To Play In Net Vs. Niagra Ice Dogs

Recommended Posts

This is a pretty interesting story, for the back story and the game itself. It was a nice touch that the kid, Connor Crisp, was named First Star, got a standing ovation by the Niagra home crowd, and had every player from the Niagra Ice Dogs shake his hand or give him a tap on the pads once the game was over. What could have been an ugly story was handled with good humour and a whole lot of class by everyone involved, and turned it into a pretty funny story in the end. The link below has the full story and a video of the highlights.

What's amazing is he did manage to make 32 saves.

What the hell was their D doing out there? You allow 45 shots on a 17 year old forward.

Erie is appallingly bad. They're 10-46-6.

Not sure what kind of a future that kid has but playing in net for a game can only give him appreciation for what a goalie has to deal with and may help his game. It's an interesting perspective that I don't think many players at that level can say they've experienced.

Apparently NHL teams have taken notice and have called Erie asking about him. Teams liked the character the kid showed and that can go a long way on putting yourself on the radar.

I've been suggesting a 700 pound sumo wrestler for years. Just strap some pads on him and instruct him not to move under any circumstances.

Apparently the guys on Niagra were shooting from the parking lot to try to beef up their stats. It's hard to block shots when the opponent does that without overcommitting and freeing up and even BETTER shot against him.

And when the sumo wrestler dies doing the VO2 test?

We deny the test was ever done and claim the last time we saw Yokozuna Jr. alive he was in a very heated argument with Tim Connolly.

lol well done.

However, getting Penner in trouble with the cops doesn't really help the Leafs.

Timmy on the other hand looks like a potential sumo wrestler strangler.

Didn't Charles Wang seriously consider this?

Didn't Charles Wang seriously consider this?

Puffy and Garth Snow were the only two candidates interviewed for the Islanders GM position.

Snow suggested Rick DiPietro and a 15 year contract.

Puffy suggested a sumo wrestler.

I think it's awfully clear Wang made the wrong choice.
