2016 IIHF World Championship

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have information on travel to Russia for the 2016 IIHF World Championships? How hard is it to get a visa and how long will the process take? Is English a common language in Russi? Is it possible to travel easily by yourself without speaking Russian? Does Hockey Canada organize a trip? The only organized tour I could find is through this group at www.sportexcursions.com.  Are there any others available?

They don't speak a ton of English in Russia, but generally anyone working the tournament will speak enough to communicate properly.

The best bet is to just go yourself and forget about tours. However, book hotel rooms early and buy tickets early. When I was in Prague for the tournament last year I went at the last minute and ended up watching every game in the town square. Although fun, probably not ideal for a trip centred around the tournament. I just happened to be there.

Also worth pointing out Morgan Rielly lead Canada in TOI in the final.

So excited about our future.  Been pining for this forever.

Have to keep reminding myself that we have a buttload of picks after Matthews... And if they can grab a few more sleepers we'll be in fantastic shape for developing sustained depth.
