2016 Rio Olympics

Opening ceremonies on Friday.

Canada opens women's soccer with 2-0 win over Australia.

The big question, will more people die via murder or poisoning from raw sewage?

We'll be keeping a medal count and body count.

No surprise in that

I see Brazil won £150 in the 100m wallet snatch and the Irish lost in fencing due to running out of creosote.

How are the Brits doing in racist trolling?

They've got a bite already..

No racism there, a little bit of ripping on a national stereotype. For example the Canadians won gold on Maple Syrup downing.

Why?  Wouldn't it be nice for all of our athletes to do well, Mr. I'm gonna pump the women's tires cause I think it'll help me get laid.

Nah, I really only think that because I feel that Canada could do more to fund amateur sports, and to have no men win any meaningful medals backs up that opinion. Our women are winning against countries that don't support amateur sports for women nearly as much as Canada (which is actually something we do well relative to the rest of the world), but when combining both genders we actually are woefully below average.

In all honesty, I obviously want all of our athletes  to sparkle and win everything, but if they don't, then maybe it'll kickstart some more support.

And obviously that's never helped me get laid. I don't even know what laid is.

If you're talking government then I don't want my tax dollars going towards amateur athletes.  Corporate Sponsorship is where the support should be coming from.

Couple medal possibilities in the pool tonight. Women's 4x100m medley, qualified 2nd without Oleksiak, who is swimming tonight.

Ryan Cochrane swims men's 1500m final.

I mean, it's pretty well proven that youth and amateur sports directly correlates to lower crime and drug use rates, so I don't have an issue with big gubmint funding some of it.
