Reilly being investigated for using homophobic slur.

NHL drops the investigation.

All parties deny using or hearing anything.

So why was there an investigation?

Because somebody on Twitter thought they heard something and got outraged?

I wish people could spell Rielly properly.  Oh well.  Small dreams...

;)

Autocorrect refuses to remember that one.

You don't think that a third party accusation of homophobia or racism should be investigated?

You would think that if Rielly had said that to an official he would have certainly received a penalty on the ice.

In the video footage the referee doesn't even react to it. As Jordo said, likely someone watching on TV and took to Twitter.

That's exactly what happened.

"Shit...that sounds like something they're not supposed to say.  This feels like something that will generate Likes and go viral."

Well, I definitely thought he said it in real time, so chances are that a shitload of people did as well. The NHL should absolutely investigate that shit, and them asking people if he said it seems like an investigation to me.

I didn't hear it. Didn't know it was so audible. Flintor did a good breakdown on it.

Yes, the NHL should be investigating these things.

If Rielly got suspended because some cuck on the internet THOUGHT he'd said a homophobic slur I'd be pissed off. If it's not in the refs report, it didn't happen..

That's pretty much what happened.

They spoke to the referee, he said it didn't happen. And the NHL dropped the investigation pretty quickly.

Sounds like someone shouted 'Rag It'.  Sounded like a different voice from the initial F-bomb

Seriously dude. Cuck is a mashup term that combines implicit racism/sexism/homophobia. This is exactly why Dubas made his statement.

North American's are far more hypersensitive to all terms than Brits.

Isn't Cuck short for Cuckold?  That kinda means something quite different than a homophobic slur.

cuck
/kək/
noun

  1. 1.
    INFORMALUS
a weak or servile man (often used as a contemptuous term for a man with moderate or progressive political views).
  2. 2.
a man whose wife is sexually unfaithful; a cuckold.
