He either is the new Ennis or his contract is buried and counts as nothing. It's a win/win.

Except Ennis was the reclamation project of a former 3x 20 goal scorer. Agostino was never that.

He might be closer to Josh Jooris or Adam Cracknell than he is Ennis. Either way, depth.

So that's where he ends up in the minors not affecting the cap at all. There is literally zero downside.

Expected to be close to league minimum.

I can see this Harpur character being a Babcock type player.

Why? and why 2 years? Is there something I’m missing here?

Re: Kenny Agostino - He’s a defensive forward with good PK credentials. Basically replaces Brown as a 4th line worker bee. Or he goes to the minors if a kid passes him on the depth chart.

Ian Tulloch recommendation from the athletic rates him number two bargain free agent signing.

As long as he knows where to stand he’s 6’6 everyday.

I think with the signings of Spezza and Shore, they are stocking up on Centre depth in case they can trade Kadri.
I wonder what his no trade list looks like.

Think the offer sheet lights a fire under Dubas’ ....ass? Hopefully doesn’t cause him to overpay on Marner, but get it done.

Why? Montreal was one of the few teams expected to be in on Marner. Now Montreal has to wait a week to see if Carolina matches Aho.

Chances are Montreal already talked to Marner and he told them to fuck off.

Once the dam breaks there could be more. Other teams might be encouraged to try it now.

If Aho got $8.4M. Nobody is giving Marner an Offer Sheet for $10.6M or more.

Aho getting that offer sheet is about the best thing that Carolina could have hoped for. He's worth at least that and probably more, and they didn't have to do the negotiation themselves. There would have ended up paying that much anyway, and the back end of his contract is so light on the actual money owed that in his UFA year they'll be able to recoup a lot of assets. Nice of Bergevin to help them out like that.

Having said that, it's not a bad play by Bergevin at all.
