Marleau is planning on altering his off-season training. He's going to try using a one piece stick next season.

I had no idea there were still players using a two piece stick.

That means he's playing. Fuck. I have zero optimism at this moment.

The chances that Marleau is on the opening day lineup is 99%.

Idk about zaitsev. I thought he was solid in the playoffs. I think there may be a couple GM's out there that value him as a shutdown guy.

I wouldn't give up on Zaitsev. I thought he looked solid in the playoffs.

You can get rid of players but you have to have one to replace them as good or better.

Think we trade Willy for some help on D?

Trading Willie now is probably not ideal. Let him play with Matthews and see if you cannot get that spark back.

Maybe you trade him later but not now

Dubas has a lot to do to optimize the roster. Dont think he'll be able to pull it all off this offseason.

Biggest priorities:

Lock up Marner

Get a top 4 RHD

Be cap compliant.

Would love for him to add a speedy power forward on the left side, but that might be asking too much.

I think brown, Zaitsev and Kapanen will be traded this offseason.

all we need is one big fast guy with grit who can get to the dirty areas and score and is defensively responsible and a right handed shot

easy

Watched part of Babcock's end of season interview......not impressed.

Dubas accepted responsibility for the exit but Babcock nothing.

Thinking maybe Babcock needs to change his tune.

I wouldn't be to upset if he left. His player choice with goalie pulled and behind by three was a mistake. Just say it and accept it.

The way Babcock ditched the post game presser was cowardly and pathetic. I lost respect for him big time.

I am starting to think He wants out and is acting this way to get out of Toronto.

I cannot see Shanny being impressed with him today.

I cannot see his players respecting him either.

I agree.  Seemed like nothing was his fault and he did everything right.  The worst was saying that he made adjustments alongside Cassidy's tactics.

He came across as a really stubborn man.

Yeah he was, he was still using Reebok 9k skates, his last pair have finally worn out too. There are alot of players using all kinds of weird kit.

As long as the Leafs qualify him they retain his rights for next year, it won't count against the cap, and good riddance.

Yeah - Babs more, or less shrugged off any responsibility while Dubas accepted what all had unfolded (not locking up Nylander sooner, and not shoring up the D).

Then he thanked everyone in the room for their time...Dubas really impressed me; articulate, and appreciative.

Always own it.  Even if it's not yours, own it anyway.  No one respects a 'it's not my fault' guy.

I don't ever recall Babs having that chip on his shoulder when he was in Detroit...I'm guessing the bank account, and media attention can do that to ya.

Can't say enough about Dubas; like you said - he owned it, and did so with integrity, and poise.

Senators interested in Leafs coach DJ Smith as head coach

Lots of people have been over the past couple of years.  He was going to the island until Trotz became available

Simmons is saying upper management wants Babcock to change his ways in order to stay head coach.

Now there is humour for you:)
