It's annoying when I come here to post something but can't because it thinks I'm someone else...

Just so everyone is aware, our very own Emma is battling for her life in the ICU right now. According to her Mother who posted on Facebook, she went in for surgery yesterday at 5ish and she's not out of the woods yet.

I saw something about that.

All the best wishes Emma.

Emma posted an update.  Complications from the surgery.  Wasn't expected to live through the night, but made it.  Things are moving forward, but slowly.

For anyone who into military or WWII history there is a twitter account which "live tweeted" the past six years covering WWII from start to finish.

Today, being Sept 1, they started again.

EDIT: won't let me embed the first tweet... Account is @RealTimeWWII

I've been following it for almost 4 years now. It's a great, great account.

My 4-year old used to sleep through the night no problem, basically from the time she was born up until a month ago or so. Now she's afraid of the dark, needs a nightlight on and her door open and begs for my wife or I to sleep with her because she doesn't want to be alone.

Tonight, it literally took me 2 hours to get her to allow me to leave her room, or else she'd chase after me while bawling. I had to stand in her doorway and wait for her to fall asleep before it was safe to leave her room without a meltdown to follow.

Anybody want to babysit?

Nope.  I've done my time.

Try leaving the light on completely.  I'm guessing she will allow you to leave if it's brightly lit.  Come back to turn it off when she's out.  Saves you from having to linger.  Kids go through all sorts of weird and annoying phases.

The first night she told us she was afraid of the dark, she slept with her lamp on because we didn't have a nightlight yet. Then it was the door open, then wanting us to sleep with her.

We've closed her door before after she falls asleep and she woke up and had a meltdown when she realized her door had been closed. She starts school tomorrow. Her teachers are going to have fun.

I'm sure it's just a phase, but this one I won't miss.

Could be that she is stressed about starting school?
My four year old definitely has sleeping issues when he's stressed about something.  They usually pass once the stress is gone, but we let him sleep with us in those situations, everyone gets more sleep that way.
