So, with Dion wearing the C, and other guys (blueliners mostly) on our team with leadership experience, do you think we see Kabby wearing the A again this year?

Figured the media would bring this one up eventually... so, I beat 'em to it! hehe

I think so, but who knows. Could be three A's, with Komisarek & Beauch wearing the others.

maybe between Kaberle, Komisarek and Beauch there will be a rotating 2 A's. past next summer i doubt those 3 plus phaneuf and schenn are all going to be on our defence payroll. someone will be moved out.

I think that's what Jordo meant. You can't have a C and three A's.

Apparently Kaberle Sr. thinks Tomas will be traded at some point.

Soooooooooooooooo..... Kaberle's Dad comes out and tells the public that Tomas has a problem with his supervisor at work, and if his boss was smart he'd move him while he can get something back for him, because there is no way his son is signing here. I wonder if Kaberle and Lindros are related, given how they let their fathers run their lives.

Also, if a player's father can speak to the media without any fear of repercussions, what is to stop Elisha Cuthbert from complaining about the reffing or coaching decisions on Phaneuf's behalf? I'd like to see some NHL players circumvent that rule, and tell us about reffing or inside scoops on coaching through a tertiary medium.

Maple Leafs defenceman Tomas Kaberle would welcome a trade and reportedly won't return to Toronto when his contract ends next season as long as Ron Wilson is the coach, according to Kaberle's own father.

According to the Toronto Sun, Frantisek Kaberle Sr., Tomas' father, told Czech hockey magazine Hokej this week that despite the fact that his son has a no-trade clause that kicked in earlier in the week, he doesn't see his son playing for the Leafs for the entire season.

"I think that during the course of the year he will be traded to another club," Karberle said. "There is only one chance for Toronto to get something back in return for Tomas now. In my opinion, I can't see Tomas entering a new contract with Toronto. Not if Ron Wilson continues to be employed there."

For a deal to happen, the defenceman would have to tell the team which clubs he would allow a trade to. In the meantime, Kaberle's father expects his son to remain quiet on all the potential trade talk.

"I think that Tomas won't even comment on (trade possibilities) anymore.", the elder Kaberle said. "He is content in Toronto with both the club and the city.

"I still think though that some change would be welcomed."

Kaberle Sr., also weighed in on how the Maple Leafs rebuilding efforts might be hampered by the passion and expectations of 'Leafs Nation'.

"I have been following Toronto for a long time," he said. “I didn't believe it much in the beginning, but it seems that the best players don't want to go to this club.

"The reason is because of the huge pressure from the fans, and especially the media. Not every hockey player is able to deal with it."

Fuck that.

If I was a NHL player the place to be would be in Toronto. A player that says they cant handle the pressure is either a pussy or just making up excuses for their poor play. Its just hockey, sure its a high level of hockey but cmon there are people with real problems and then some are crying with their 5 million dollar contracts in their pockets. People are dumb, on a lighter note I cant wait for the pre-season to start so we can start watching some hockey again! Hopefully some camp surprises like last year.

well i could imagine how it wouldn;t be so great if you were to be called out and cussed at by a whole city for not producing. but then again, i'd rather do that than play in a rink that can barely fill the stands

The stipulation in his statement there was "if Ron Wilson is still head coach..." that Kaberle will leave at the end of next year (assuming he isnt traded at the deadline anyways). That confirms the animosity between the two.

But I'd say that Wilson might be on the chopping block this year if they get off to a slow start again anyways, so that could always end up not being a problem ;)
